Menü: C64 Files → Cartridge [CRT]
Use this menu item to open the window for the cartridges. This window symbolises the expansion slot of the C64.
The cartridge window offers all functions to work with cartridge images (.CRT). Emu64 accepts some .CRT files that emulate the functionality of additional hard- and software.
(1) Directory
Choose the directory which contains the .CRT files.
(2) File-/CRT Image Selection
Use this area to select the .CRT image file. If you select a file by clicking on it the areas (3), (4), (8) and (if needed) the additional area for EasyFlash show useful information about this module. Double click on a file to load and start the .CRT image file.
(3) general information about the cartridge
This area displays general information about the image file. Hardware type is one of the more important information because Emu64 doesn't support all cartridge types. If a cartridge image doesn't work properly it's best to check the hardware type and see if Emu64 supports this type. Look it up in the list further below.
(4) ROM Chip - Overview
This area of the window displays the number of the ROMs, banks, addresses and sizes.
(5) activate Module
Use the button to start the plugged in (selected) module. This is the same as plugging the module into the actual hardware C64 and turning it on.
(6) deactivate Module
Use the button to stopt the module program and remove the cart. This is the same as unplugging the module from an actual C64. Emu64 resets the C64 window after deactivating the Module.
(7) - or +
Use the button (7) or
to expand or minimize the window area (8) with the ROM content.
(8) ROM Content
This area shows the content of the currently selected ROM.
(9) Create Empty EasyFlash
Click on the button to create an empty imagefile of module type 32 (EasyFlash). Clicking on the button opens the following window.
CRT Name
Enter the name of the imagefile you want to create. This name is shown in the windowarea (3).
Filename
Enter the filename of the file. .CRT is added automatically.
This buttons creates the imagefile. The file is saved to the folder set in the window area (1).
Cancels everything, no empty EasyFlash image is created and the window closes without saving anything.
Quote about EasyFlash
EasyFlash is a Cartridge for the expansion port of the Commdore 64. It contains a 1 Megabyte Flash-ROM that can hold one or more cartridges (.CRT files). Because a modern Flash-ROM is used and not an EPROM it is possible to just write, program and then delete the cartridge images without problems. To write the cartridge images to the EasyFlash memory use for example the software EasyProg.

If you click on an „EasyFlash“ CRT in window area (2) the window gets bigger and shows additional functions on the right side. The buttons are activated when you select the cart. The EasyFlash emulation withing Emu64 is just like on the real hardware. The only difference is that there is no additional reset button and you can use the normal soft reset.
(10) Status LED
The cartridge has a status LED that is
activated as soon as the ROM is red or written on to.
(11) Boot Switch
A switch on the module configures if the EasyFlash is in boot- or programming mode.
start Module
If this switch is activated the content is started automatically.
Normal start of C64
If this option is active you can program the EasyFlash Cart via the C64. You need a special software for the C64 to program the EasyFlash Cart.
(12) Display Flash Memory
Clicking on the button opens a display window.
Chip Number
Use the radio buttons to set the Chip Low- [0 (Lo)] or High-range [1 (Hi)].
Bank Number
Use the pulldown menu to select the ROM Bank.
Content Display
The lower area of the window shows the content of the ROM memory.
save EasyFlash CRT
If you changed the content of the EasyFlash Cart save the changes with the button.
CRT Format Support
The Hardware Type is the inner workings of the cartride. Different placements and connections of RAMs and ROMs are used. It is possible to load other .CRT types into Emu64 but it cannot be guaranteed that it works.
