Screenshot: C64 Screen while Hard Reset

If you command Emu64 to do a hard reset, the C64 screen is shortly filled with @ symbols and after that the normal C64 start screen appears. The reset can look different, depending on the program.

This form of a reset is the same as turning the C64 off and on again. There are a lot of programs, especially games that have a build-in protection against soft resets. This happened because bright developers created additional hardware (like the Action Replay or Final Cartridge Module) that made it possible to read out the C64's memory and 'lend' images, music or code from the program. The original coders of the software didn't like this so the used programming tricks to prevent a soft reset. So if a program won't let you soft reset the (emulated) C64, you don't have to shut down Emu64, but you perform a hard reset instead.

Besides clicking on the menu item for Hard Reset you can also press Shift + ESC to perform a hard reset.
