Basics of Emu64

Emu64 features different Windows. You can reach the different functions through the main menu in the Emu64 programm window with your mouse.

Because a normal PC can't read or write C64 floppy discs or datasettes different image formats were developed over time. These image files contain the data from the original C64 data carrier. Emu64 can read and write almost all of the common image format for C64 files. Single files don't have to be saved to a disc. Emu64 also recognises different program formats.

Besides the peripheral hardware there are different modules and expansions for the Commodore 64. Emu64 emulates a lot of them too.

The C64 program runs in the program window (main window) of Emu64. You can change the size of the screen by dragging the window bigger with your mouse. You can also run the C64 emulation in fullscreen by pressing ALT+RETURN.

The keyboards of a Commodore 64 homecomputer and a modern PC are different. There is a RUN/STOP key, that you will not find on your PC keyboard. Therefor Emu64 has the option to customise your PC keyboard within Emu64 or you can use Emu64's virtual C64 keyboard where you press the keys with your mouse in a keyboard window.

If you don't know the original C64 hardware… don't worry, Emu64 is really easy to handle.
