Within this area of the window you can chose a SID file. Select the drive with the pull down menu on top. Select the directory in the upper middle. If there are SID files within the directory they are shown in the window below. As soon as you select a file and Emu64 recognises it as a SID file the first (Default) track starts playing. If there is a file already selected when starting the SID Player this SID file will be played.

Notes on playing SID files

There were two differnt kind of SID Chips build in the C64 over the lifecycle of the machine. You can select both versions of the SID chip within Emu64 because some tracks sound better on one chip than on the other chip. Just play with the SID versions, you can eben change SID Type while playing a song.

What is a SID-File
Normal audio files are just digitalized audio signals that are played, but a SID file is more like a program. There can be samples within the SID Files but every SID file features its own player. That's why the SID Players emulate the SID chip. Just as Emu64 does.

End of a Tracks
Once a track is completely played there is no automatic jump to the next track. That's because the SID files have no information included where the track ends.

Track- and Songnames
A SID File is a container for a lot of tracks. The SID files are often from games, demos or other sources. A game often needs more than just music, for example sound effects are needed when a certain action is performed by the player. So i can happen that there are more than one track within a SID file and only one of the tracks is a music track.
